As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on Amazon.com.

SURVIVING CHILDHOOD
My husband, as I mentioned in his story yesterday, lived above a funeral home. In order to create a more ordinary environment for their children, his parents would take them to spend weekends at the family lake home. It was a lovely … Continue reading
IS THERE SUCH A THING AS A PERFECT DAD?
This is my dad on his wedding day. This is a rerun today. My sister will be arriving soon from Tennessee for a short visit and I’ll want to make the most of it. This was posted on June 11, … Continue reading
WONDROUS WOMAN
Today being a woman (especially a mom) requires great courage. Generations from the sixties and on have been hammered with thoughts that they must be strong role models for their children, work hard in the workplace and at home, bring home … Continue reading
INDIANA KATHY
When I was growing up, I thought it would be so cool to be an archaeologist. Imagine spending your workdays discovering unknown civilizations and peering into tombs of former kings. Later on in life, the Indiana Jones movies came out and … Continue reading
BEAUTY WITHIN
The old saying, “Beauty is only skin deep.” always confused me as a teenager, especially when so much emphasis was placed on physical appearance. Young girls compare themselves by what they wear, how they fix their hair, what their teeth … Continue reading
THANK GOD FOR MY DAUGHTERS
AMY JOY Mothers who have had a profound impact on my life include my beautiful daughters. When I became pregnant with our first, the doctor had me convinced I was going to have a boy. There were no ultrasounds then, … Continue reading
AM I A SECOND GUESSER?
Yesterday Brandon Adams at https://brandonjadams.com, wrote a great post about mothers that prompted me to respond. My motherhood journey was much like the one he spoke about in “To The Mother Who Second Guesses Herself.” It seems from the day … Continue reading
DRAMA!!!
(Photo of my little pirates last year.) Working with children has blessed me, but there are times when I wondered if anything got through to those little ones. Teaching drama to K-4 children each week was a challenge The chaos, the after school … Continue reading
MIND WHAT YOU SAY TO YOUR KIDS
Do you ever stop to think about things that were said to you when you were a kid? The words we say can really impact them in one way or another, or at least conjure up ideas that go way … Continue reading
PROM TIME
(This is my grandson, Josh, who will be graduating from high school next month.) Scrolling through Facebook, you can’t help but notice that it’s spring and young men’s fancies turn to thoughts of . . . well, uh, er, you … Continue reading
GIRLY DAY
Yesterday I had the entire afternoon with my fourteen year old granddaughter. I know the day will soon approach, when being with Grandma is no longer cool, so I will relish these moments before she moves onto that chapter in … Continue reading
GENERATION GAP
“Here’s the truth. Your teens and twenties are your Plan A. At 50, you’re assessing whether Plan B or Plan C or any of the other plans you hatched actually worked. Your sixties and seventies, they’re an improvisation. Dick Van … Continue reading
FAMILY VACATIONS
Most everyone remembers the family vacation movies that appeared several years ago. We had our own version of those memorable road trips ourselves and I’m sure many of you have as well. In the movies, the most outlandish things happened, … Continue reading
KIDS ON THE BIBLE
I love the way children’s minds work. I find myself having some of these same thoughts when I was a kid – how the words I heard didn’t always mean what I thought they did. Some very interesting interpretations have taken … Continue reading
PASS IT ON
If it were only a matter of fighting off armies of an invading enemy – or simply a battle cry against those who would cause us emotional or physical harm.If our task required us to stand up for those less fortunate, … Continue reading
TEN TIPS FOR PARENTING IN THE 21ST CENTURY
Having lived over seven decades, I’ve seen it all, I’ve lived pretty much of it and I’ve heard enough. That doesn’t necessarily make me an expert, but I’ve noticed our society as a whole has lost something over time. Somewhere along the … Continue reading
ANOTHER FUNNY PARENTING STORY
This is another actual event that occurred when I was doing a “sort of good job” being a parent. Many of the events that happen during this time of life are really hilarious after the fact, but my thoughts of … Continue reading
INVESTING IN YOUR CHILDREN
I have a tendency to try and fix things. When people are sick, hurting in any way, lacking confidence, wanting to succeed – I feel responsible for taking care of all of that. I often overload myself with these cares … Continue reading
THE LOSS OF A CHILD
My maternal grandmother was one with a true pioneer spirit. All that she did in life was done with gusto as well as perseverance. She, along with my grandfather, raised 8 children, built a dairy farm, tended the chickens, baked fresh … Continue reading
LESSONS FROM THE PAST
My generation tends to forget that our lives weren’t perfect. I think we paint a picture of perfection like a Norman Rockwell view of American life. We hide the bad stuff and look only at the things that made our age great. I never … Continue reading
