A child is born – it happens every day.

But when our Lord,

Savior,

Messiah,

Baby, Jesus,

King,

Emerged from Mary’s womb,

lt was more than extraordinary,

God chose to come to us, to live among us, to be human flesh with the purity, wisdom, and power of the Creator of the universe.  His incomprehensible love is beyond our understanding.  Why would God who cursed mankind for their disobedience, have the heart and mind to take that curse away with His own life?  To separate completely from His Father – to carry the load of the sin of the world on His own shoulders.

We deserved that punishment.  It was our sin that caused our separation from God.  We should’ve gone to the cross.  We should’ve been sentenced to hell for eternity.

Our God doesn’t work that way.  His love is enduring, compassionate, everlasting, selfless.  Because of His wisdom, because of His mercy and, because He is God, He put us first.  What greater love is this.  He laid down His life for humanity.  Oh that we could love others as He first loved us.

He didn’t have to do this, but He deigned to, because it was the only way out for us.

Praise this tiny infant,

Watch Him grow in His human life,

To speak with God-filled knowledge in the temple,

To follow the path laid for Him by John, the Baptist,

To gather huge crowds with a new message,

One of peace, forgiveness, salvation, redemption,

To be falsely accused,

To walk to His execution, carrying the instrument that took His life,

To suffer an unbearable death,

To defeat Satan,

When he displayed His power,

By returning to life,

Showing us that death cannot over power us.

He lives and so will we.

There is no greater love.
