Actually, Hug Your Boss Day was yesterday but I’m celebrating it today. In my estimation, hugs have become a thing of the past. With thoughts of sexual harassment at bay, along with those who simply don’t want to be touched, the concept of hugging has diminished in our society. I’m a big fan of hugging. In fact, I heard somewhere that hugs are under rated and that we need them more than we think we do. That same source told me that an average of four hugs a day are necessary to keep us thinking positive thoughts and feeling good about ourselves. Unfortunately, in the last fifty years or so, hugging appears to be offensive.
I’m retired, so who do I hug? I hug my family, I hug my friends, I hug those who are hurting, I used to hug my dog. Since I don’t really have a boss anymore, I might even hug myself. There is a whole world out there in need of a good solid bear hug. I’m not suggesting hugging strangers. You might be arrested for assault. Although a retired person might benefit from being thrown in jail. I mean no house payment, no insurance, no groceries, no gas for a car you can’t drive. Get my drift?
Some folks are afraid to express their emotions. Some have grown up in a hugging family and it comes naturally. Hugs can turn into something much more than positive affirmation – especially if you’re in the public eye. The press loves stuff like that. Maybe all the media really needs is a really good hug. If politicians did so instead of beating each other up on every issue that comes before them, they might get a lot more done.
With all the abuse in our churches and schools, we must first ask before we can hug. How sad is that? Corruption, lies, hearsay, scandal, bad press and darkness could rise to the surface when we care about someone enough to give them a hug. In today’s world, you must ask someone if you may hug them before you do. With all the surfacing abuse in the schools, churches, workplace, etc., I understand the reasoning, but isn’t it sad that it has come to this?
I don’t know about you, but I will hug someone spontaneously. I will show another, with that simple act of encouragement, that they are important to me and others. We need to stop being so uptight about things. Some of my best memories include hugs. Go hug your boss today. See what happens. You might get a raise, or you might get fired, but you’ll never know if you don’t do it.
HAPPY HUG YOUR BOSS DAY!
THANK YOU, JESUS, FOR ANOTHER DAY!

Amen! The enemy is out to warp everything – to the point where we abandon natural affection, and expression. I’m for correct hugging –
2 Timothy 3:3
Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
Let’s refuse to be robbed of Wholesome expression.
If we think greeting one another with a holy kiss isn’t acceptable either. (Romans 16/16, I Corinthians 16/20, II Corinthians 13/12, I Thessalonians 5/26.
Then lets go for a hug. ❤️😎👍

I agree fully, Ken. I’ll take that hug.

There is a widower who rarely gets to church anymore. His mental faculties are waning. But years ago, he would let you know in a skinny minute that he did not care for handshakes. He was a hugger. I think I might have been thinking of him when I wrote about Deviled Yeggs giving bear hugs that could calm the other person. Thanks for this, and who ever thought of having National Give Your Boss a Hug Day on Sunday?

TipTopJob..com created this in 2008. It was to be on the 13th of September. I imagine you could also hug your boss on a Sunday.
