BESIDE STILL WATERS . . .

The heatwave continues with temperatures in the 90s and the dew point is tropical. Rather strange for my neck of the woods, but we know this too shall pass. We only have a few days of unbearable heat, compared to the months of severe cold, so I shouldn’t complain. I think of Psalm 23 every time I refer to refreshing waters. The painting by Paul expresses that beautifully. God walks with us throughout the seasons of life, whether it’s hot or cold. He brings relief even when the siege continues.

This morning, as I gave my garden a much-needed watering, I came upon a potted plant that seemed to be crying for a drink. Its blooms had all but died and the remaining leaves drooped. I thought for sure it was a goner but after a good, long drink it began to perk up as if to say, “Thank you.” After almost an hour of watering, I probably looked the same way.

When God’s life-giving water restores our sagging hearts and lifts them to heights unknown, we can’t help but become alive again. That water comes in many forms. It can be poured out in the words of the Bible. It can bring relief in its reading and saying. Certain passages we may have memorized always seem to bring comfort. It can come in words spoken to others. It can be received through the help of others. We all need the refreshment of the living water that God provides.

Slowly crossing the sands of time – into a pasture green sublime,

I’ll rest my feet and wet my lips, with waters clear and cold that grips,

Through danger I will walk with Him.  He guards me from each foolish sin,

He takes my hand and leads me now, to comfort me and show me how.

To live my life and live it right and when I stray He sets me right,

When my own final hour comes near, I’ll face my death with no more fear.

I’ll trust in His unfailing love – which He bestows from up above.

With Him in paradise I’ll live.  He promised me He did forgive

Each one of my transgressions.

About atimetoshare.me

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on Amazon.com.

      • We’ve set record highs in Montana this week. 113 here a few days ago and 118 in Roundup, Mt.! I could never live in Yuma, Az where my sister lives. Well maybe in winter! The day we hit 113, we were higher than Yuma!

I thought we had it bad. I was supposed to be a vendor at our church’s Farmer’s Market, but I’ve decided not to go. Hoping for some rain. It’s been a while and my plants are drooping. Stay cool.

May the heat wave leave very soon. There is nothing like the refreshment of living water, Kathy!
