WE ARE THE HUDDLED MASSES . . .

When the United States declared its independence over 250 years ago, the words were carefully crafted and determined by men of character, high moral conduct and intelligence. The words which have stood the test of time, begin with the title, “We the people.” not “We, the smartest, richest, the most popular, or those who have power.” We the people,” means you and me – the ones who live and work in this country – the ones who cherish the Constitution – those who would die to keep its precepts. Many of us entered this country to find a better life. Many were born here. Many rich, many getting by and those in want. The fact is we are made up of a melting pot of people who share in the freedom the USA provides.

For the history of this great country there have been those who have laid down their lives for her. There are the laborers who work to improve the old and bring on the new. There are the brilliant minds that invent, change, design and build. We are the huddled masses that the poem by Emma Lazarus speaks brilliantly about what makes America great. It is those who make up the population of our country. Those who are the “common” people could not achieve greatness without having great leadership and a constitution that is upheld and honored. In the past years, we’ve seen so much division, yet we are a united country. We need to look back at those 250 years to see how far we’ve come and what we need to change.

I love America, even though I don’t like what’s happening to her. I will continue to trust in our heavenly leader – God – to be in the hearts of her people. Being a proud American means freedom to those who will cherish that freedom and protect it at all costs.

About atimetoshare.me

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on Amazon.com.
