The peacefulness just before sunrise – not many critters moving around yet, but in this watercolor, you can see what Paul witnessed in the woods on many occasions. He was an avid hunter, but for him it wasn’t the kill that mattered. He loved being in the same environment of God’s amazing creation. As you can see, there is movement all throughout this painting. A fellow artist once stated that Paul’s brush seemed to move faster than the mind could go. Many others who watched him paint would say it was almost like watching a dance. The heart of the artist is a connection unknown to the average person. It’s finding your soul in the midst of chaos – then sharing it with the world.

Through a still, and temperate morning, light is hidden by the clouds,

Yet the dawn of hidden treasures, trickle through the darkened shrouds,

In the solitude of daybreak, life renewed and life restored,

As an eagle spreads its wings, we can also reach and soar,

In the darkness, there is beauty, such that we have never seen,

God is there within our shadows, with His hand He makes us clean,

We can now approach the world, even face the light of day,

There is beauty in the darkness, when we turn to Him and pray.
