TRANQUILITY . . .

ART & INSPIRATION BY PAUL & KATHY BOECHER©

As I scroll through Paul’s art, I feel he is with me. It’s always been a connection for us. He painted and I wrote. The words were easily inspired, because his work always gave me a sense of peace and tranquility. In so many ways, our life together was a matter of collaboration. We shared God at our center. This made it possible for us to get through the rough times without too much scarring. We enjoyed all the arts which gave us something in common. We liked to laugh. In my memory are moments of rollicking laughter, inopportune chuckles, LOLs when no one else saw the funny. We grew up together, having known each other from the age of 13 to 82. We went through rough times as well as profitable times. God had our plan arranged before we ever met. In these pieces of art, I have found a solace because so much of this man is in the work. I can no longer hug him. The days of conversation and laughter are gone, but I can’t erase the memories. Today’s painting is similar to many others, but the beautiful sunrise over a turquoise lake is breathtaking.

Life and all its rigor, anxiety and friction, comes to a screeching halt when you find that tranquil place that gives you complete peace.  It can be held in words written on a page, the sounds of nature or the music of a classical masterpiece. Or it can be a memory of a place once traveled – a site untouched by human hands which has endured the test of time – a place where only you and God exist together in harmony.

Psalm 91:2-6 ESV “I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.”

About atimetoshare.me

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on Amazon.com.

This is such a wonderful post. Your Paul’s painting is so beautiful! I understand when you say “so much of this man is in the work” and rejoice because you have a physical reminder of the one you loved. I have those physical reminders, too, and I am grateful for them. And grateful for your reminder that God is our fortress and refuge. ❤️

The memories are the best when we need a boost. God is always with us too and that gives us hope. He’s got this, was one of Paul’s favorite sayings, and I know he was right.

  5. Paul’s painting offers an endless supply of tranquility. I especially find encouragement in seeing the sun over the water. I’ve experienced such moments in real-time, and all remind of the precious fabric of God’s creation. Kathy, your life with Paul reminds me of my maternal grandparents . . . Ohio-born, together in school, moving to Montana with faith in a job opportunity, and an amazing witness of their love.

Thanks Richard. Paul loved landscape painting. He felt closer to God when painting in natural settings. We had a blessed life together.
