ADDING COLOR TO A DREARY DAY

ART & POETRY BY PAUL & KATHY BOECHER

Here’s another example from one of Paul’s sketch books. I’m assuming it was done with ball point pens. Paul would often draw a sketch for future use in a painting. He had the knack of being able to show movement in his works just by adding a line or curve or two. You can almost feel the wind blowing on this little farmstead and the chill of a March morning displaying grey skies. When days like that occur, it’s time to spend some time with God in prayer.

WHEN ALL WE CAN DO IS PRAY

Why is it when we come in prayer
We just don’t have the words to share?
The struggles still continue on,
Our hopes diminish and are gone.

We lift our voices, but we fear
That God’s too far away to hear.
We grow impatient and cannot wait
We think our problems aren’t that great.

Our ego soon gets in the way.
We think that we don’t have to pray,
But God knows all our needs and cares;
He wants to hear our inmost prayers.

He sends His spirit to our side,
To speak in words we cannot hide.
He goes to God to intercede,
In royal language does He plead

So, take your troubles to the Lord.
Don’t worry over the right word.
He loves to hear from you each day.
Don’t feel inadequate – just pray!

About atimetoshare.me

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on Amazon.com.

I like the wind’s swirling movement in the drawing and the great reminder of the Holy Spirit who is interceding on our behalf in prayer.

I am blessed in so many ways. Paul’s work fills my heart with him. I’m also caring for my six month old great grandson for four rnornings a week as his mom goes back to finish her final year of college. My adult grandson from S. Carolina has moved into my house to relocate here and find work. Right now his job is helping me so I can stay in my home. God is so good!

  3. Paul’s sketch reminds me that our Creator uses every avenue of His masterpiece to open one’s heart to prayer. Kathy, your poem beautifully adds color to Paul’s sketch.
