ART & POETRY BY PAUL & KATHY BOECHER
The watercolor painting shows the fading color of October. The brilliance we’ve see in the past couple weeks will probably retreat soon and we look to another season that seems colorless at times, but beautiful, nonetheless. In the poetry I’ve written, you will see the progression of life as exhibited in the seasons. Each holds great hope and promises for our eternal existence in heaven.
This season of bounty, where real treasures abound,
The trees have grown barren and with it has the ground,
New growth will re-enter, but it will be a while,
The dark days of winter will soon turn the sundial,
Seeds that were last planted for food on the table,
Have withered and languished like hay in the stable,
Our bodies are aching – our old minds are unclear,
The last days of springtime have long since disappeared,
Though days grow much shorter, more sweet dreams fill our heads,
A blanket of goose down will now cover our beds.
The short days of winter – of this squandering time,
Has robbed us of sunshine; has relinquished our prime,
The only commitment that we so hunger for,
Is waiting in shadows that lead to death’s dark door,
Still hope reigns victorious, that upon our last day,
Death’s grip will not hold us – God will beckon us stay,
A place where the angels will sing songs of great praise,
With peace and contentment under God’s righteous gaze,
Though this bounteous season will lead to our demise,
The will of our Father will bring pure paradise.
THANK YOU, JESUS, FOR ANOTHER DAY!
