Passivity is a term best described as being a couch potato. Lately I’ve found myself going to the couch more often than I’ve ever done. Binging has almost become a way of life. It’s really frustrating when your life has always been filled with things to do and work that has a deadline. I know it’s important to take time to relax, but that has always been a problem for me. I used to watch shows like Midsommer Murders, Agatha Christie, Sherlock Holmes – anything with a mystery/detective twist. My husband would tease me saying I was looking for ways to do him in. I’m not really sure why those types of shows intrigue me. My preferences lately are on the Brit Box channel. I subscribed recently and have watched many different series. Does than make me a murder/mystery/detective show junkie?
I don’t think it’s because I would rather work than enjoy life. I just grew up feeling that I had to be doing something all the time. Setting goals and striving to achieve them was ingrained in my brain. I guess you’d call it a good work ethic. Now that I’m getting older, my body is telling me what everyone else has been saying for years. “Take it easy!” Yesterday I decided that this was enough. Donning my garden gloves, I waddled out to my garden. The weeds have taken over. The dry, hot weather has caused most of the good things into drooping, sagging, lifeless images. I tried to revive them with water. I removed most of the dead leaves. I still have much more to do. Oh, oh, I may have awakened a frightful gardening monster.
Last night it finally rained. This morning the ground is saturated with natural water. Things are greening up, just in time for our next season. Today will have to be an inside day. I could dig into some closet sorting or deep cleaning. Nah! I think I’ll just go to the couch. I pray that I never grow lazy and that my work is never in vain, and I ask God to allow me to rest in Him, since He is the source of all peace.
“My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress; I will never be shaken.” Psalm 62:1-2
THANK YOU, JESUS, FOR ANOTHER DAY!

I like mysteries, too! I think they really help to keep our brain active and you get to study acting, how the characters behave. In a good drama, they’ve left you lots of clues! 🙂

Maybe that’s the reason I like them. KInd of like solving a puzzle or riddle. I’ve always enjoyed period mysteries especially. Maybe I should’ve been born in the 1800s,
