Isn’t it amazing the amount of stuff we collect over a lifetime? When I look at my “treasures” they are nothing compared to the life blessed by my Savior, Jesus. We may find something of value in our belongings – something that includes a fond memory – something that glistens and glows – some piece of tarnished jewelry or a treasured photograph from years ago. All those things are important in that they made our lives interesting. The real treasure that never grows old – that continues to shine in the darkness – that will guarantee a future in heaven – lays in the cross of Jesus. He has been the center of my life. He lifts me up when I’m down. He guides me as I make difficult decisions. He answers my prayers – even if the answer is “no,” I realize it is in my best interest. He has prepared a place for me in heaven. Not because of what I’ve done but through His greatest sacrifice of dying on a cross, being resurrected as He promised and rising to paradise for our sake. Yes, He died for all people. Not just me. He loves us so much that He paid the ultimate price.
Treasures in an old chest can be a blessing or a curse. Memories sometimes fade away. All those we hold in high esteem will eventually die. I pray that we will be reunited in heaven. I hope I see you there.
Butterflies tickle my insides each time I try something new.
I worry and fret and often forget how Jesus knows just what to do.
He’s always around when I need Him, He walks with me all of the way.
He won’t let me down – He helps me find strength to sweep all frustration away.
No matter the day or the hour, I experience His awesome power.
He’s there at my side and with me He’ll abide through rainstorm or light falling shower.
So, when I am tempted to give into fear, I stand confident in His grace.
He is my defense – He helps me make sense of the difficulties that I face.
I praise Him today for all that He gives to a wretch as hopeless as me.
Because of His love, which comes from above, sins were buried and I am set free. POETRY BY KATHY BOECHER
THANK YOU, JESUS, FOR ANOTHER DAY
