ART & POETRY BY PAUL & KATHY BOECHER
Fridays can give us feelings of finality. The work week has finished. It can fill us with freedom to spread our feathers and fly. It can further foster fun and frolicking for a couple of days. It can cause us to fret over forgotten chores. In a flash, the frenzy of life takes over, and a Friday can turn into a fitful form of faithless freefalling. Thankfully, we have a FAITHFUL God who knows every one of our needs. He is in charge of Fridays and every other day of the week. We can count on Him to muddle through whatever comes our way. I have just used several “F” words in my post and I didn’t swear once. Go figure. This watercolor painting of Old Faithful by Paul Boecher was most likely painted from memory. He didn’t often set up for plein air painting in touristy areas. He loved the solemnity of nature – the peace and quiet of locations that framed much of his art. Our lives can change rapidly, but we have the faithfulness of a God who loves and protects us through all situations.
In an instant, lives are shattered and will never be the same.
A moment takes the light of life. It nevermore will flame.
Our hearts are heavy as we long for someone we can blame,
But the lessons of a dreadful act are all part of the game.
The game of life is precious. It’s the reason that Christ came.
He came to take our sins away, our redemption to reclaim.
We can run the race we’re given. We can do it without shame
Because He lives so we live. Let us praise His glorious name.
