The book of Job is filled with tragedy, death, loss, desperation, fear and finally restoration. This is an amazing discourse between the protagonist, Job and his “friends” after he experiences the loss of almost everything in his life. I love this book. It shows the strength, faith and perseverance of Job and his amazing relationship with God. The words are often poetic in form, as indicated in chapter 37:10-11. As I look through windows that have been etched with frosty ice, this imagery becomes apparent.
i remember long ago, looking through frosty windows as a child. I was spellbound by the design and intricacy of those patterns. Kind of like a kaleidoscope which seems to magically change in an instant. My mom would relate stories of Jack Frost and his special paintbrush, but I knew that was just a pretense made to stir my imagination. As I grew older, each of God’s majestic displays became more apparent. The clouds in the sky – puffy ones that looked like soft, goose down pillows – or the ominous storm clouds that darkened and moved quickly to gather the storm together – and the clouds that resemble flocks of sheep in the sky.
Every display of God’s majesty in nature is a miracle. We need to remind our little ones of that each time we look at parts of God’s creation. A butterfly, a waterfall, an ant colony, the stars in the sky and all of the glories that God bestows on our world.
ICE has taken on a new meaning in my state. It doesn’t give us that magical feeling that ice on the windows does. It sets fear into the minds of many. It makes others feel that this presence is something we need in order to end the flow of illegal immigration. I have not been a first-hand witness. I cannot form an opinion until I hear all the facts. I will not write about it until I do. I can pray about it and so can you. We all have access to the Creator of the universe and everything in it. Our prayers will be answered – maybe not in ways that we’d hoped for. The plans of God are unknown to us until they actually happen. I pray that some good will come from all of this. I know that God is in control of everything. That is a truth we can count on.
Ice will eventually melt. ICE will also go away at some point. The result of that process can be for our good or for us to learn something that will change our future. Either way, have faith in Him.
THANK YOU, JESUS FOR ANOTHER DAY!

Amen, Kathy! The book of Job is also my favorite.
Did you ever draw in the frost on a window? I used to enjoy that. Using a sewing thimble to make patterns and textures was fun. Most of us today have double pane windows and insulated homes, so frosted windows are not as common. LOL, but car windows still frost up! I can’t draw, but I can make a flower or a snowflake.
I live near the border so we’ve been dealing with Homeland Security and ICE forever and all the ensuing protests. Something that often fascinates me, lot of immigrants (and children of immigrants) working those jobs. Sometimes they understand the value of borders and boundaries more than those of us who have been here for generations do.
