Time for another black and white piece of art. This demonstrates Paul’s ability to capture contrast, lights and darks, detail and movement. All encapsulated in one space. When we think about Autumn, the colors are what come to mind. God has taken out his best paintbrush and filled nature with a rainbow of hues. We can never match these brilliant shades, but isn’t it wonderful that God does it for us? Trees that once created a canopy of green are descending to create a carpet of gold, red and orange. Each leaf has its own design – veins spreading out seeking nourishment – they wither and eventually go back into the ground from which they came. It’s my favorite season, but it does come with the promise the long season of winter. Each of the seasons are part of God’s creation, which gives us a glimpse of what paradise will be like.

Colors of autumn – scarlet, amber and gold,

God’s palette enlivens the fields we behold,

Each seed that was planted, its fruit has been sown,

A bountiful harvest among dirt and stone,

His Word bears good fruit, a banquet sublime,

Waits for us in heaven when it becomes time,

But while we continue to walk on this earth,

His truth to the world will offer rebirth,

Time soon will run out – there’s much work to be done,

Tell the world about Jesus and the victory He’s won.
