The bridge looks over a seething scene of poverty and loss,
Though filled with much there is no hope for life at any cost,
The desperate soul seeks recompense and tries to make amends,
But there is nothing good enough to take away its sins.
The bridge itself is perilous, it’s filled with ice and snow,
The wind is raging as it sings and beckons, “come below,”
“A refuge you shall surely find, an end to all your tears,”
The voice grows loud within your head, a call to end your years.
But suddenly a light appears, a beacon from above,
The holy angels call to you and tell you of God’s love,
There is a place reserved for you beyond this heavy veil,
But now you must live out your life, with God you will prevail.
Dont think that you’re not good enough to walk through heaven’s gate,
The price for every sin you’ve done, by Christ it has been paid,
When God is ready for your soul, it’s been made white as snow,
He has prepared a room for you, and that’s where you will go.
