I love the Bible verses that refer to the creation of the first woman. God put Adam to sleep and removed one of his ribs to shape the woman who would be Adam’s wife and helpmate. She would be equal to her husband, because she was formed from him, yet she would be protected by him, just as his ribs were designed to protect his own heart.

Everything that God created was good. It was configured with perfection and the highest quality. Marriage was part of that creation. God knew that it was necessary for man to have someone to share his life with. Many would beg to differ on that point, but I believe that it is equally important for a woman to share her life with her husband as well.

As I come a day closer to the celebration of 56 years of marriage to the same man, I can attest to the fact that God created my husband and I for each other. He knew precisely what each of us would need to balance out our lives – to provide encouragement and inspiration – to laugh and cry together – to dance together when we no longer can bend our knees.

We laugh together.  We enjoy many of the same activities, but each have our own special things that we take pride in.  We’ve worked together to build a business.  We cried together as it fell apart and we lost everything.  We held each other tightly and comforted each other when we received news of serious health issues.  We stood tall when each of our children was born and brought amazement, concern, love and even disappointment at times.

We are now in the latter years of our life together.  It’s been a lovely ride in spite of the roller coaster effect.  That’s what makes for the excitement of a solid marriage.  That along with having God as the head of our house has been our mainstay.

Marriage isn’t easy and many choose not to do it.  God instituted this sacred estate, not only for procreation of the species, but to share life with another – to rejoice in triumphs and lift each other up in times of grief – to be a helper for the other.  I’m one of the lucky ones to have been blessed with my amazing husband for almost 56 years.

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on
