We often tell our children not to be afraid. We say the same to our spouses, friends, relatives, even those we barely know. There are so may times we’re told to reach out to someone when we’re troubled or when things get tough. If only it was that easy.. We face all kinds or trouble from the moment we enter this world. We come out kicking and screaming and often leave in the same way. We often need someone other than ourselves to get us through those difficult times.
Within our own little circles, we see friends going through difficulties of all sorts. Within the confines of our own homes, we may be faced with as much turmoil as we see on the news each day. Let’s face it. Things in this world aren’t going to get better, but we can get through them a lot easier if we let go of our fears and trust in the only One who will catch us if we fall.
We might think that the world has gone to hell in a hand basket, but still God tells us not to be afraid. We will never see perfection in this world, but we can get a glimpse of it by reading about God’s eternal love for His people in His Word to us.
When we trust in those words, we’re going to be able to remain silent in times of distress and turn everything over to God. This isn’t the act of coward – as the world would tell us. In fact, depending on the Creator of the Universe makes perfect sense. He designed it all. He knows what He’s doing. He can fix the smallest detail with in a second. He loves us with an unconditional love that we cannot begin to fathom. He isn’t going to let us go.
Don’t give up – don’t lose faith – don’t be afraid. God’s angels spoke those words to the shepherds, to Mary and Joseph and God Himself tells us to do so as well. We should relax – let go – trust – give in to Him. He is the only One we can rely on for completeness.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
Very encouraging words. Great verses.
