Our new church only has VBS for one day, but the day is jam packed with outdoor activities, crafts, lots and lots of music, sweet little ones, art, games and time to spread the Gospel. As for the leaders, it is indeed a full day and most of them need to get there feet up and their backs propped up by the end of it – but what fun to spend time with these precious little ones.
It’s been many years since I’ve been involved in VBS, but because we are a church in a rebuilding process, every bit of help is necessary – even from us old fogies. We may not be able to keep up physically with all the activity, but we certainly have lots of wisdom (through years of experience) to share. The little ones don’t realize yet that grandmas and grandpas don’t know much.
In the meeting prior to this special day, our pastor shared the Bible passages pertaining to Jesus admonishing His disciples for trying to keep the youngsters away. Like many in church today, some believe that children can be a distraction. But Jesus reminds all of us to be just like those little lambs. They have a faith that we should be imitating – one open minded and without question. Our prayer was that God would give us the energy, the love and same care for our charges that Jesus showed during the time of His ministry. Letting them know how much they are loved by their Savior is a great gift – not only for children, but or all of us.
So the day ended successfully. God’s Word was shared. Children’s voices filled the sanctuary and I’m exhausted.

Sounds like a great day in the Lord! I know the Lord blesses those that gives of their time for the things of the LORD.

Lol! I helped with our VBS last year which was an animals and nature theme…I did birdhouses and clay seed bombs 😂😂😂😂😂 Relatively quiet and organized compared to the other activities!

Our VBS starts on Monday and runs 5 days. I should get our volunteers the shirt recommended in the above comments…
