Every day there is one shocking news story after another. We’re bombarded by tales of inhumanity murder, greed, lust, idolatry, treacherous acts of violence and hatred. Occasionally we’re treated to a “feel good” story, but it seems they’re few and far between.
What do we do about a society that seems to have run amok? Some blame all this horror on the internet and the easy access to bizarre and disgusting behavior. Some say the end of the world is coming soon. Others believe our nation is on the verge of collapsing like the Ancient Roman Empire.
Solomon, in all his wisdom, knew that every act of depravity, lust and deceit were common since the beginning of the world. He had innumerable wives, excessive wealth, power and was admired as the wisest man alive but still he realized that the only thing under the sun that mattered, was his salvation. When all the diversions were cast aside, he remained a sinner, just like you and me.
Sin came into the world, not by God’s doing, but by man’s. Both Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden. Eve, for being tempted into believing the devil’s lies and Adam for not taking a leadership role and refusing. Both of them desired to have the same knowledge that God possessed.
Sin is sin, no matter how small or how large. Thanks be to God, He has provided victory over it, by offering His Son as the perfect sacrifice. We now have the opportunity to thank Him by serving Him and bringing others to Him. Our world will always be corrupted by evil, but there is hope for another paradise that awaits us on the other side of the grave.
Amen! I especially needed to read this after I posted about 9-11 last night, and a few minutes later my daughter in Washington asked me to send her the scary Jade Helm and supercell storm pictures that I have taken, right here in eastern New Mexico where we live, in the past few years. After I did all of that, I went to bed expecting to be blown up or blown away any second!!
But… whether I live or whether I die, my hope and trust is in the Lord Jesus Christ. 🙂

I know how you feel, but the minute we surrender to fear, we lose the battle against terrorism,

No kidding! Even the Jade Helm marshall law exercises were, I am sure, conducted right out among the public, in order to scare people. It’s called psy ops, short for psychological operations. Now some people really do need scaring, in my opinion. I’m talking about evil doers and law breakers. But those of us who are peaceful and law abiding, should have no reason to fear. Not if our trust is in the Lord God Almighty!
Sometimes my flesh forgets that, though. Especially when a hurricane force blizzard is blowing for two days and two nights straight, baseball to softball size hail is destroying our roof, the tornado warning sounds and then a mesocyclone hits, or three separate mile long trains loaded with tanks and other wicked looking weapons comes rolling through our town. All of which has happened here in the past couple of years! 🙂

Correction, I meant to say that all of those unsettling events have happened here within the past couple of years, with the exception of the supercell which produced baseball to softball sized hail. That happened in 2012.
