Have we been overtaken by fear of an unknown enemy? Are we reluctant to speak out because we are afraid what we say may go viral and have negative effects to our reputation or our families? If this is the case, what has happened to our freedom?

I know there are more than a handful of people in our country who are overwhelmed by what’s going on in our leadership, our branches of government our local representatives. Each day the news is filled with stories of inhumanity, ugliness, hatred, injustices. Where has our outrage gone?

Some say we need to get to the root of the problem by creating more jobs, training, help for underprivileged. Some think that dealing with the enemy requires peaceful intervention. Unfortunately our greatest enemies don’t care about peace.

As an aging American, I grew up with a love of my country – of my freedoms – of the foundations upon which it was founded. Lately I’ve seen a lack of patriotism, mistrust of government and a lack of the spirit which made our country great.

I know our kingdom is not of this world, but I also believe that God has laid out a plan for how we should live while we’re here. We have been told to be strong and courageous. Where is our courage? Where is our voice?

I’d like to hear from others about this. What can we do to make our voice heard? How do we get our country back on track ? Why are so many so complacent and satisfied with life as it is.

About atimetoshare.me

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on Amazon.com.

  1. You change a country by changing the people. One heart at a time. There is a “heart disease” sweeping through our nation. It’s not about programs or being more organized it is about being faithful in the small day to day interactions. Also to make sure our own hearts are looking to our only hope which is God, not our president or government.

I am convinced that God is our refuge and strength, but I sometimes think there is more we can do to preserve the values our nation was founded on.

I agree wholeheartedly with Karen. I really do also think we all need to examine our hearts as the word tells us to do. I think when we are where we should be God uses us in mighty ways. I know for me at this time, I have been called to pray. I told my prayer partners that today, I am believing God that my prayers to deal with ISIS are the ones that will change the world. I am tired of the faithlessness. We are all called to do something in the kingdom. People should start today by praying for our president, our country, and go from there. Sorry for the return rant but I am right where you are Kathy!!!

I am praying right along with both of you that God will finally intercede in this mess. I want to believe that this is just a group of radicals. I pray for good leadership at this time and that God’s power will prevail as I know it will. I hope the American spirit hasn’t died. The foundations upon which it stands have been so corrupted in the last 50 years.

On a side note after twenty years I changed my party affiliation yesterday. That’s how strongly I feel about what’s going on. It’s not so much about party lines as it is knowing I am taking action.

WE have to take some kind of action. I think there are problems on both sides of the aisle and those issues are way beyond our repair unless we speak out and let them all know that we don’t like what’s happening here. I think I’ll write to the white house.
