Psalm 146:16-17 He gives snow like wool;
he scatters frost like ashes.
He hurls down his crystals of ice like crumbs;
who can stand before his cold?
It seems a little early for snow, but then I guess it always seems to come too soon. This year we’re ready for it … maybe. Most of the leaves are bagged, the garden ornaments are stored away, we even have a new electric snow blower which my husband is dying to try out. Being prepared for six months of winter is important in the frozen Tundra, but being prepared for heaven is even more so.
At the end of our church year, we focus on the end times and being sure we are prepared. The weather can be predicted with lots of amazing new technology, but the return of our Savior is completely unknown. He will come when we don’t expect it. He will return to judge the world – including you and me. How will we fare? Will we be ready?
If we know that Jesus died for the sin we’re born with – the sins we commit daily – and the sin we will continue to do until our death, we can be confident that our judgment will have a good outcome. Nothing that we do will get us to heaven. Only the blood of Jesus can wash the slate clean, but because we have that special relationship now, as heirs of Christ, we have an obligation to live according to His Word. By serving others as He served us, we are doing so to Him as well.
The snow will come and go, but Judgment Day comes only once. Will we be prepared? Living a life of willing service is our way of saying thank you to the Lamb who took our place – Our Savior and King.

Pretty snow!!!! Have a great day my FRiend!!!

This is a stock picture, but it looks pretty much like what we have outside this morning. Everything looks washed clean!

Evocative and thoughtful …
To a life long desert rat, snow is an alien substance, tolerable through a window perhaps but otherwise, an offense, a punishment for some awful transgression …But it comes anyway.
Jesus Christ was ill received on His first visit; he frightened the powerful. He still does that. Neither He nor we having changed, one must expect our species to be no better prepared in the future …

You are right – time doesn’t change us, only Jesus can do that. Our hope lies in our future – after death.

Yup… the snow is like that here, too. That’s a great verse (oops, see chapter 147). As a knitter, I’m always interested in finding more fibre-related Bible verses 🙂 ♥ ❤
