STAY WITH ME . . .

Elderly woman reading a large book with a glowing figure of Jesus behind her

Dear, Heavenly Father,

As my time on earth ebbs to a close, it’s easy to fall prey to the devil’s claim that life ends with our final breath. That our lifetime of building has come to an end.  As the years pass, My mind isn’t as sharp as it used to be.  My hearing is fading. My body continues to remind me that my days are numbered. My energy is spent and tasks that once were easy, have become difficult and often undoable.

I know that you have my life all mapped out with a perfect plan for my existence here and in eternity.  You knew before I was conceived, where life would take me.  The hills and valleys along with the detours and roadblocks were placed there to strengthen my relationship with you and draw me closer.  The goals I set often seemed impossible, but you have always been at my side to carry me to each one.

As my years have consistently shown me, I am never really alone, even when the house is empty and my thoughts are filled with long ago memories. You are right beside me through every season. You encourage me through your Word. You hold my hand through the trials of living. You will never leave me. I can count on that.

Each day is a gift for which I am grateful. The beauty of life will never darken as long as you are there. Today, help me to make the right choices, live according to your will and hang tightly to the greatest gift ever – the promise of eternal life.

In the name of your precious Son, Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!

“Abide with me, fast falls the eventide. The darkness deepens, Lord, with me abide. When other helpers fail and comforts flee. Help of the helpless oh, abide with me.” Henry F. Lyle.

About atimetoshare.me

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on Amazon.com.

  2. Boy, can I relate to this post! I have many of the same thoughts. Do you have someone who can post to your blog when you meet your Hubby in Heaven?

I haven’t thought much about that. Maybe I should make copies of all my posts so my kids can rerun them. Thanks for your kind words,

Thanks for your comment. My groom of 60 years went to heaven on January 1, 2025. What a way to start a new year. Looking forward to being together again.😃

  4. Great prayer, Kathy! Life does not end with our final breath. One might even say, life begins with our final breath! I like the analogy of babies being in the womb arguing about whether or not there is life on the outside. That’s how we are here on Earth, existing in heaven’s womb. We’re spiritual beings having a human experience.

Joy comes in the morning – our evening here is but the precursor to the dawn that awaits the faithful. Your posts have brought encouragement to many (including me!)

Be blessed and held in the wonder of His peace!
