ART & POETRY BY KATHY BOECHER

At the end of March, I was getting antsy for spring. Of course, in Minnesota, it’s too soon to work outdoors because you never know what the next day will bring. I came across a never used watercolor paintbox left behind with Paul’s abundant art supplies and decided to paint a few flowers. If I couldn’t plant them, I could paint them. I kind went crazy with that little paint box and ended up buying another one, along with some watercolor paper. Paul had always encouraged me to paint, but I never had the patience for it. Like most things I do, if I can’t finish something in one day, I set it aside and never complete the job. I could almost hear his voice as I applied paint to paper. “You can do this. Don’t be afraid to try. You love flowers and your garden – paint. You have nothing to lose and you might even have fun doing it.”. Over the course of the last month, I’ve been having fun. He was right.
This is true, no matter what your abilities or strengths. You can accomplish things you thought you couldn’t if you relax and enjoy the ride. Each one of us comes with so many talents within us. God made us. He designed each cell. He crafted our bodies so that we could be of use in His creation. So, today I’m sharing a few of the paintings I’ve finished so far. I’ve added the poem for inspiration. Have some fun.
Our days undefiled and sins now washed clean,
The pure life of Jesus, will help us convene,
The darkness of winter can leave deep remorse,
We wander away and relinquish our course.
The coldest of days will be warmed through the night,
Our Savior will comfort and holds each one tight,
He won’t let us go, if we trust in His Word,
Our souls are renewed and our steps undeterred.
The coldest of days will be warmed through the night,
Our Savior will comfort and holds each one tight,
He won’t let us go, if we trust in His Word,
Our souls are renewed and our steps undeterred.
Kathy, your paintings are exquisite. This flower person was immensely blessed by your talent at paint and words.

WELL DONE, Kathy! I especially love the purple and yellow flowers–African violets, perhaps? (I’m no flower expert!) I’ve dabbled with watercolors myself, but haven’t touched them for awhile. ‘Need to carve out an afternoon and putter in the paints again. You’ve inspired me!

Thanks Nancy. The purple and yellow is one of my favorites too. The flowers are taken fresh m my image nation but the could be African violets if you want them to be. Get out your paints ❤️
