POETRY BY KATHY BOECHER©
I just realized that it’s National Poetry Month and I should’ve posted a poem a day. I’m relying on my collection of poems for material this morning. The following piece relates the waters that rage through the mountains in the springtime. Ice melts and releases a surge of lively water, which again returns to the earth to nourish it. Spring gives us a second chance, another day, a new beginning. We come out of the doldrums of the winter blahs ready to tumble over the rocks ahead. Our long winter’s nap has turned into a ho-hum existence for many. The thoughts of new life, forgiveness, moving forward and having a clean slate give us hope for another day. As age takes over, the crashing waters can eat away at the rocks – crushing many. It saps life from some. It reminds us of the Living Water that God provides through His amazing grace. The coming days satisfies all living things on its journey. Aging just brings us one day closer to our Savior and paradise with Him. Let the rivers roar!
A mighty torrent of raging water gushes through the mountain passes,
Tumbling over granite,
Seeping through the tiniest cracks,
Forging a path of energy on its way,
Life hits us like that sometimes,
The waters come crashing around us in waves,
We think we will be overtaken by them,
We fear drowning,
It is then that God leads us to the still waters of His compassion,
He guides us through the perils of our existence,
He refreshes us when we’ve endured them,
He restores us through His mighty hand,
He holds us close in His tight embrace,
Lead us through this life, dear Lord,
To pastures green,
Nourish us through your Word,
Lead by your great example,
And bring us home safely to You.
THANK YOU, JESUS, FOR ANOTHER DAY!
“He guides us through the perils of our existence…” Very beautiful words in your poem. Thank you, Kathy.
