IF TREES COULD TALK . . .

ART & POETRY BY PAUL T. & KATHY BOECHER©

Today might be a nice day for a drive or walk through a park. The sun is getting warmer and even a slight breeze would invigorate the soul. It seems we come closer to our Redeemer when we find ourselves in a natural setting. This painting was done plein air at Snail Lake Park. I’m assuming in the fall months. The grass is still green, but the leaves are turning. In the seasons of life, we go through many changes as well. Eventually we die, but there is the promise of new life after death. When we lose one we love, it seems like part of us goes back into the earth as well, but God tells us that we have a room waiting for us in heaven. I wonder if it will be surrounded by trees.

Trapped beneath the rugged surface,
A protrusion of gnarly bark and battered limbs,
Hidden within the depths of darkness,
A face sullied by nature,
Yet deeply entrenched with character,
Wrinkled and shriveled over time,
Scraggily,

Cragged,

Rutted,

Hellacious,

The years have overtaken,
A million voices it has heard,
The passage of time does not deter,
Still capturing rays of the sun,
Still suffering under gale force winds and driving rain,
Witness to all that sin has done to this world,

It weeps,

It bends,

It rebounds,

It lives again,

I wonder what stories it would tell,

If it could talk.

About atimetoshare.me

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on Amazon.com.

  1. Paul’s vision captures a genuine experience with nature’s timeless journey. His painting and your thoughtful poetry encourage me to take another view of the wooded paradise behind my home. One feels the Spirit with each gentle breeze. God’s blessings continue to offer us peace. Kathy, thank you for sharing a breath of our Creator’s masterpiece.
