We go through life with goals that seem insurmountable, only to find we’ve already obtained them. We look at what our friends, neighbors or co-workers have and covetousness might fill our hearts. We sometimes desire that which is way beyond our reach and eventually realize that we didn’t need it or that we have something even better.
This is true in our Christian walk. We think we need to work our way into heaven. We may think we’ll be more blessed if we donate more. We might believe God doesn’t notice us because of our many sins. We look down on those who don’t conform to a certain standard. We’re filled with a desire to be better only to fall into temptation again and again. We often look at the speck of sawdust in someone’s eye without realizing the big log in our own. We could believe we’re responsible for our own destiny and that we don’t need forgiveness or God.
Our daily struggle continues through life, but we have God’s promise of redemption. The price for our forgiveness was paid a long time ago on a bloody cross. Jesus died to ransom us from our sins, not because He had to – but to demonstrate His love and win us back into communion with Him Through His mercy, we have it all and it’s always been there, just waiting for us to accept.
Sounds too simple? It is! That’s the beauty of it. Salvation is there for the taking. All we have to do is turn to God. He is always available to those who seek Him. Put your faith in the only One who can deliver you from all your sins – the One who will not turn away from a penitent heart. Trust in God.
Amen! So true Kathy, God is always there.
