AND HE DIED

Methuselah was an old, old man when God finally took him to heaven.  For 969 years he stumbled around the planet.  He raised a family, saw them grow into adults, had grandchildren and great grandchildren.

And then he died.

So what did this man accomplish in that time?  We often look at a normal lifetime as between 70-80 years.  We try to cram as much as possible into that short span.  We attempt to make a name for ourselves, provide for our families, leave some kind of legacy.

And then we die.

Noah was 600 years old when he finished building the ark.  Everyone thought he was a crazy man.  They laughed at his project.  They laughed when he talked about rain which would engulf the earth.  They had never even experienced rain.  They watched as he an his sons worked away on this giant ship which was to house two of every kind of living thing and all they could do was make fun of the old boy and wonder.  Then the rain came.

And they died.

How much do you plan to pack into your lifetime?  I’m getting close to the end of the line and I sometimes think I’m going to be the next one to kick the bucket, but I know that God has work yet for me to do.  That being said, I also don’t know when He intends to end my life, so the work continues.

And then I’ll die.

But I will rise again!

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul.     According to Genesis, Methuselah was born early enough to meet Adam before Adam died and lived long enough to meet Noah and his three sons before Methuselah died. Can you imagine the wealth of information he was able to share with the younger generations? J.

    You need to follow the advice of the title of my post this afternoon, Just Don’t Die.

    It was an atheist’s answer to a Bible packing soldier from Waco, Texas in Camp O’Donnell, POW camp in the Philippines. How will you avoid hell’s pitful of fire? “I shall stay healthy and not die.” was the answer.

    Of course, I come to the same conclusion as you have. Today starts an eight day series from the POW camp, courtesy of Abie Abraham’s book. I hope you like it.

    wise words my friend…as old as Methuselah…don’t think I’ll make it that far, nor do I want to…given these grave days and times…but He had grave times as well…
