HYDRANGEAS

I love these magnificent, showy flowers –

The hydrangea,

Colored pink, mauve, deep indigo and a blend of all,

This year I’ve had back luck with these blooms,

Late in the season I discovered they do not do well in close proximity to black walnut trees and we have one humungeous walnut, shedding walnuts at the present.  Having taken one back to the nursery for a replacement, and sticking the dead bush into the far back yard on a whim, resulted in some late blooming foliage, but no blooms.  The replacement took a turn for the worse and it too has been moved.

I’m hopeful that next spring will bring new life from both of them and a plethora of new growth.  As with all gardening, it’s a test in patience.   Waiting and waiting and then waiting again. In the meantime, I’ll paint them.

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ.     I love them also. Always waiting in the spring to see if I’m lucky to get flowers. They are beautiful as dry flowers too.

    Hey Kathy, my wife and me love gardenias. Have you ever smelled them?
    I believe that’s the best smell that God has in plants.

    You also paint? It’s a beautiful painting! I love this! And yes, my hydrangeas bloom some years and some years … not. 😉

      Thanks for your kind compliment. I started painting one summer when my asthma was too bad for me to be in my massive garden. I consider myself an amateur, but if it helps to paint what you love, I guess that would be me. I think hydrangeas are very fussy plants. They need a lot of TLC.
