This is the first Sunday in Advent – the time of preparation for the coming of the Savior of the world – the King of glory – the Prince of peace! It’s also a special time for all of us to reflect on the truth of God’s Word and how it so beautifully reflects on God’s covenant with man in the Old Testament and the fulfillment of that promise, through Jesus, in the New Testament.
In Isaiah 40:3-5 we first hear of the preparation for Jesus’ coming as a voice in the wilderness crying out – Make way for the King. It’s so clearly revealed in the story of John the Baptist as he preaches repentance to the people prior to Jesus’ entrance into His ministry.
During this Advent Season, it’s the perfect time to take a look at those prophesies of old and see how clearly they have been revealed and fulfilled in the birth, life and death of our King, Jesus.
The Advent wreath is a good way to share the story of hope, love, peace and joy through the lighting of the candles with your family. The center white candle is representative of Jesus and is surrounded by the other candles. The tradition of the Advent calendar leading up to the celebration of Christmas is another way to share the blessings of this special season. Start some of your own traditions with your children as you approach the world changing day of celebration of Jesus’ birth.
As we prepare for the coming of our King, let’s always remember how He left His throne of Glory to come and live among us. He lived the life of a human being so that He could completely take our place upon the cross. There has never been a king like Jesus. He gave up everything because He loved us so much.
MAKE WAY FOR THE KING OF GLORY – MAKE ROOM FOR JESUS IN YOUR HEART!
