MY LIFELINE

faith_wall09085_1280

There are so many things in God’s Word that make no sense from a human standpoint – a virgin birth – a flood that wiped out the entire earth and its population – God writing His commandments on two tablets of stone – the death and resurrection of Jesus – the trinity of God.  All of these facts are like nonsense to a world of logical minded people.

Faith is a matter of believing something we don’t understand, even though it defies all human logic.  Faith requires a childlike heart.  Faith is not something we achieve or gain by our own doing.  It’s as much a gift as our salvation.

When God inspired human beings to write down His Word for all generations, He did it with perfection.  There are no lies in this book.  It is pure and holy – from Him and by Him.  When we dig deeply into it, we must leave our reason on the back porch and approach it with open hearts and minds – remembering that the Word is true, not just a collection of fables and stories.

Sometimes we become so committed to the study of the Bible, that we can get tangled up in trying to figure it out and therefore be more like God.  Unfortunately that’s what got man in the mess of sin in the first place.  That very first temptation had self-worth written all over it.  We can never be like God, but He has provided a way for us to remain connected to Him despite our sinful minds.  His very nature is to love us and that He does.

Some things will remain a mystery to us until our dying day – when everything will be revealed completely.  Until then, our faith is the life-line that connects us with God – not our wisdom, intelligence or logic.

About atimetoshare.me

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on Amazon.com.
