Today our children cannot imagine a place where black people weren’t allowed to use the same rest rooms as white folks; where there were schools that wouldn’t accept blacks onto their campuses; where only whites played professional sports, had the most influential jobs, or could become president of the United States.
When Martin Luther King uttered the above words, there was a deep division between black and white in our country – a division that created prejudice on both sides.
Strides were made, but it seems that in the past few years our country is again being split in two with intolerance as well as political correctness. How sad that we have come so far and yet fallen so far back.
