IMAGINE

Have you ever looked at clouds and watched “them come to life right before your eyes? It’s something most of us do as children, but can still enjoy as we grow older.

Last night as we were driving home, I had the experience of checking out God’s great expanse of the twilight sky.  We were outside the city limits and you don’t always get a glimpse of a sky where I live.  I could see a storm developing and passing through the white thunder clouds above.  The lightening skipped through these enormous, darkening cotton balls, exposing their radiance in its wake.

There before my eyes – images of flying elephants – Pinocchio with his long nose and silly hat – an alligator which quickly transformed into a fish and again into a snake.  I could’ve sworn I saw Walter Mtthau and Bob Ross up there too, but that’s a whole different story.

Sometimes when we get older our imaginations take a vacation. We lose some of those childlike conceptions of the world around us. I suppose it’s because we don’t always exercise that God given talent.

I hope I never completely lose track of my ability to imagine or pretend. It is the beginning of all creativity and a necessary part of who we are.

“I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it’s a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, and that enables you to laugh at life’s realities.”

Dr. Seuss

About atimetoshare.me

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on Amazon.com.

I pray that I never lose my imagination and my creativity. The times when I am most creative are the times that I feel closest to God.

I’m with you. I think God places so much beauty in our world not merely for our enjoyment, but also to stretch our imaginations.

Wasn’t the sky amazing last night? I could have watched it for hours and found something new in every cloud. Thank you, God, for the great light show!
