GIVE THANKS FOR GOOD HEALTH

Hi, my name is Kathy, and this is one of my support groups. Each one of these women is part of the Jewels of deNial, an ensemble group of actors of retirement age and beyond. I’m the “beyond” part of the group. We’re getting ready to put on our newest episode today. The shows are set up as an old-time radio show, so we can read from a script. Acting skills are still necessary, but the use of voice is the primary gift for this kind of theatre. Most of us have trouble remembering what day it is, much less than it would take to memorize lines.

I am 82 years old and proud of the fact that I’ve made it this long. I believe part of that is because I refuse to stop doing what I love, even though my aging body often tells me I should. I thank God that He’s given me this outlet. As we age, we could mope around and ponder the thoughts of going to heaven, but I think God wants us here for a reason. No matter what age we are, He has a purpose designed just for us.

I’ll never make it big on the Broadway stage. I wouldn’t want that anyway. My life has been one production after another as it is, and I’m blessed through that. Creating our own scripts with lifetime experiences that have been somewhat embellished, also allows for lots of laughter, chuckles and big fat guffaws.

Dear God, thank you for this opportunity – this outlet – this creative venue – this time of fellowship with my friends – my chance to make someone laugh. I’m not sure if that’s what your purpose is for my life, but it is a big part of it. Thanks for keeping me healthy and able to continue for the time being. Amen!

“All the days of the afflicted are evil, but the cheerful of heart has a continual feast.” Proverbs 15:15 ESV

About atimetoshare.me

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on Amazon.com.

  2. “…I think God wants us here for a reason. No matter what age we are…” (I love this, especially the no matter what age we are part.) As an addendum to that, I place “do whatever we can at whatever stage we find ourselves.” There’s no reason not to do something. The creative juices don’t dry up until these old corporal vessels stop working.
