AUTUMN LEAVES

Yesterday as I drove to have a CatScan to see if I had kidney stones, I took the scenic route.  The Victory Memorial Parkway was alive with brilliant color even though the skies were sunless and a few drizzles of rain covered my windshield.  I snapped a few pictures along the way (I wasn’t driving at the time) and found some color right in my own backyard.  I absolutely love autumn.

The crimson reds are making their appearance this week.  The sun is trying to break through the incessant clouds and snow is in the forecast.  Still the thought of white stuff in October doesn’t discourage.  We know there will be a few more days ahead to enjoy the crisp fresh air of autumn.  The smells of fresh baked apple pie and pumpkin spice are delicious.  Thoughts of sitting around a bonfire and making that final batch of S’Mores tantalizes the taste buds.  Wearing flannel shirts and jackets for the first time in a while is a refreshing change.

Pumpkins are artisticall carved and sit on tables outside.  Big inflatable images of the Munsters, The Addams Family and other spooks and goblins are enriched by orange yard lights.  We’re getting closer to winter, but we refuse to think about that now.

I feel very blessed to live in a place that displays the beauty of the seasons.  There are times when I wonder why I live in such a cold climate, except when the artistry of God is running amok with color.

The CatScan revealed two stones.  Instead of rocks in my head, I produce rocks in my kidneys.  This isn’t my first rodeo with these pesky little globs of calcium.  When they’re in there, I have learned to listen to my body.  I know this is a treatable problem and thank God for preserving me for a few more years.  I also thank Him for the beautiful drive in spite of the raindrops.

About atimetoshare.me

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on Amazon.com.

I will pray for you, for the stones to pass without trouble. I like the pictures. We are starting to get a little of the gold, but most of the trees are still green.

I just said a prayer for you. I know how painful kidney stones can be. Although I haven’t had that, I’ve had a killer of a kidney infection, and my understanding is that kidney stones can be even more painful.

Your autumn drive sounds pleasant. This morning when I went outside with the dogs, it was 26 degrees. Day before yesterday the temperature was in the upper 80s. It was in the 90s and 100s most of the summer, until recently. It seems that our part of New Mexico is going straight from summer to winter, with no autumn this year!

Thanks. I’ve had them before and they’ve been extremely painful. Right now they aren’t causing any obstruction ❤️
