The stories we possess as human beings can keep us laughing for years. Four years ago, I wrote a post about that subject and since it’s Throwback Thursday, I’d like to share it again.
Bill sure knew what he was talking about when he penned these words. Our lives are a series of stories which we act out every day. We have the comedies, which I tend to fall victim to. There are the greater number of tragedies, struggles and difficulties that we all face and the stumbling blocks which upset our plans. There are the tales in between that sometimes blend these two into one – a sort of comedic tragedy. The way we look at life – the way we cope – the words we use to express ourselves – the trust we place in people, places and things – all of these things will move the plot along. There are twists and turns which make a story exciting and interesting. Sometimes the insurmountable becomes just another possibility fulfilled – a lesson learned – a test failed or passed.
The main topics of life continue to be the struggles between good and evil. Though times change our opinions the truth remains. We can sugar coat the evil of this world – make it enticing and tempting – wrap it in beautiful packaging, but it is still evil. Unfortunately, time has caused the world to become numb to its effects and the resulting punishment. The word “sin” has all but been obliterated from the English language. People laugh at the idea of being judged. They scoff those who believe that they are accountable to a higher power. The prince of darkness, the father of lies, delights in those thoughts, because his following grows when people think that way. Misery loves company.
How does the story end? For most tales, the story ends happily, but let’s not forget the tragedies, for there are many. The death of a child, the loss of all material wealth, the struggles to fit in, the bullying that goes on everywhere. There are countless tragedies in our world. Depression is at an all-time high, especially among young people. There is also a deep crying out for help. People are looking for a way out of their sadness, their hopelessness and depression. Some continue to numb those feelings with drugs or alcohol while others turn to any kind of spiritual uplifting. The simplest story somehow gets overlooked.
The end of the story depends on us. How will we receive this Good News? Will we accept the truth of God’s love? Will we share it with others? Will we keep it hidden under a basket? Will we trust in the One who created us and knew us before our conception? Or will we suffer the greatest tragedy of all – an eternity in hell. The choice should be easy, but the story continues. In the end, God wins.
Such wise words you share!❤️❤️
