I know it’s a little early for Halloween, but Autumn often stirs the imagination and our neighbor, the night person, has done it again. A while back, you may remember, my husband called me to look out the window at the neighbor who was mowing his lawn in the dark. My faulty hearing led me to believe that the poor guy was glowing in the dark instead. We had a few laughs over that one. You have to laugh at your disabilities or you will slowly go insane.
What began as a joke has become a mainstay for us. This neighbor lives alone. He’s a bachelor, probably in his thirties. He’s a sweet young man, but we rarely see him during the day. He has kept nighttime hours with his job as a limo driver. The virus has shut down his employment, but he seems to be used to being a child of the night. Often I will notice his house completely lit up at 2 or 3 AM.
He still tends to his lawn in the evening hours. I’m not quite sure how he sees what he’s doing. Maybe it’s the fact that he glows in the dark and has no problem finding his target. Maybe he’s just shy and doesn’t want to run into anyone and have to engage in conversation. My husband has been known to monopolize a conversation and hold his listeners captive with his entertaining stories, but he rarely tells them in the dark, unless he’s seated around a campfire.
Maybe we should just accept the fact that he likes to do his work at night and mind our own business. However those windows have led to a great deal of speculation as to the goings on in our relatively quiet neighborhood. Oh, the joys of growing old and getting sick of modern day television fare.
Agree on the television fare, your campfire stories are probably a lot more interesting. Mine got to be a bit confusing, back in the day.

Thanks. We have enjoyed each other for a very long time. Or should I say put up with each other.😳

I’m going to share this with my parents ~my Dad refuses to get hearing aides ~my Mom refuses for him to have them because their comedy would completely halt. 🤭❣️

I was recently gifted a set of hearing aids from a friend whose husband passed away before using them. I’m sure I’ll need help getting them fitted, but I agree that so much laughter will be eliminated because of them.
