As some of you already know, I enjoy these offbeat holidays.  I wonder who thinks them up.  They must be very creative or they simply have too much time on their hands.  Occasionally I come across one that sends my creative juices rumbling.  If you were to change the message on your cell phone or land line today, what would you come up with?  Here are a few from me:

Hello, this is Kathy’s message service.  She is busy saving the world.  If you’d like to speak with her, stay on the line.

Hi, this is Kathy.  I can’t answer the phone, because I’m getting ready for the Oscar Awards.  I know it doesn’t happen until February 9th, but it will take that long to get made up.

This is the message service of Kathy.  She is unavailable to take your call. In fact she doesn’t take calls anymore.  She’s now working for the CIA.

Kathy doesn’t live here anymore.  Call someone else.

If you’re looking for Kathy, try AA – Aging Actively.

This is Kathy.  Who is this?  Is that you Marge?  OK it must be Norman.  Will you please answer me, who ever you are?

This is the office of Kathy Boecher.  She is unavailable right now.  She’s actually taking another nap and does not wish to be disturbed.  Hey, Kathy, it’s for you!!!

Hey, this is your local Pizza place.  We have an order from you for 75 pepperoni pizzas.  Will you please verify your credit card number?

You want to talk to Kathy?  We haven’t got a clue where she is.  She left two weeks ago and we haven’t seen her since.

This is Publishers Clearing House.  You have just won fifty million dollars.  You can claim your prize by giving me all your personal information.

I’m certainly not going to change my phone message today, but I’m sure it would be fun to hear the reactions.  What would you put on yours?

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on

These are all good, but I think that I like the Marge and Norman one best. J.

My favorite is: Hello, you have reached the Rackley residence. I am the wee little man inside the answering machine, that answers when they don’t. I beg of you, please leave a message. When you leave a message, a little light comes on. It is so cold in this box when it is dark. Please leave a message so that I may warm my tiny fingers!
