Within the confines of an icy realm,

The waters deep have turned to frozen glass,

Dark shards of broken, shattered dreams,

Entwine around this once enlivened shell,

It cannot free itself nor find a path to carve,

Alone and useless ’til another comes,

To free it from the shackles of its hell,

It stands alone and lifeless in the sun,

Reflecting everything within it’s sight,

In hopes of an ever burning light,

But still in darkness, hopelessly,

‘Til life returns from deepness of the grave,

Reflections are just memories, they don’t save,

Until that final day,

When the Redeemer comes again,

All we can do is shine as mirrors of His will,

To serve, to wait, to hope and know for sure,

That He enlivens all that once has died,

He takes away the tears that man has cried,

And turns reflection to reality.

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on

  1. Oh… I have been thinking along similar lines this week, and in fact, I am currently painting a piece that captures reflections! You and Paul have expressed this with perfection! I will simply thank you for allowing God to use your talents to encourage and buoy me! You are truly a gem, dear Kathy!

As are you, my friend. I feel we are soul mates in many ways. God bless your painting and I’m so glad my words and Paul’s art are an encouragement for you.
