Gabriel is only heard from on very special occasions. His messages were directly from God and when he showed up, people listened.  He brought comfort, astonishment, even a tugging at the faith of those he visits.

Joseph was a carpenter.  Skilled craftsmen were few and far between, so the need for someone to create pieces carved from wood for practical or decorative pieces was there in the little village.

Being married to one who carves things from wood, I know it takes great ability to chisel  away at a piece of wood and create something useful and beautiful from within it.  In the process, the artist’s hands become blistered, slivered, strong and rough to the touch.  Up until now, he had it made.  He was engaged, had a trade which would support his new wife and family, a strong work ethic and a strong faith to get him through just about anything.

When Gabriel came to Joseph in a dream, we find a man confused, yet loving and resolute.  He learned that his intended bride was pregnant.  He knew he wasn’t the father.  He loved this young woman and planned to spend the rest of his life with her, yet he knew her condition would stir the community and cause tongues to wag.  He decided to take action.  Hed quietly “divorce” her.  Once a couple decided to marry in that time, they were already wed in the sight of God.  He didn’t want to submit Mary to ridicule.  His heart was breaking, but he fell into a deep sleep convinced that this was the only way.

As he slept, Gabriel, appeared to him – the same one who came to Mary and Zachariah with an amazing message from God.  Like Mary, he accepted what the angel said, even though the whole idea was incomprehensible.

There are many times we feel secure with the way life is going and suddenly we’re thrown off guard with shocking news or events. Gabriel hasn’t made any recent visits, but now we have direct communication with God through His only Son.  When those times hit us square between the eyes, Jesus is the mediator who carries us through. God now speaks directly to us through the Bible.  What a wonderful resource to get us through difficult times, days of sadness and depression, moments of fear and anxiety. The perfect manual for all situations in life is our connection to Almighty God.

Lord, keep us steadfast in your Word. Strengthen our faith through your Holy Spirit and help us to share your great news of salvation with others.  Amen!

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on

  4. Yes it is very important Brandon to seek God’s Truth and not just trust in what Worldly Men or Women Propagate but without the Holy Spirit we cannot understand His Truth in Scripture as confirmed below with the Pharisees, they thought they knew the Truth but didn’t. Jesus is our only Spiritual Teacher and God asks do we lack His Wisdom, none of us were Born with it so we all do and it is the Principle thing in Understanding His Truth being empowered by The Holy Spirit.

John 5:39-40 Search the Scriptures for in them ye think ye have Eternal Life and they are they which testify of Me and ye will not come to Me that ye might have Life..(KJV)

Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the Principal thing therefore get Wisdom and with all thy getting get Understanding.

James 1:5-6 But let patience have her Perfect work that ye may be Perfect and entire wanting nothing. If any of you lack Wisdom let him ask of God that giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not and it shall be given him. But let him ask in Faith nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that Man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded Man is unstable in all his ways.

Luke 11:13 If ye then being evil know how to give good gifts unto your Children how much more shall your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him?

1 Corinthians 2:9-16 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of Man the things which God hath prepared for them that Love Him. But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit for The Spirit searcheth all things yea the deep things of God. For what Man knoweth the things of a Man, save the spirit of Man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no Man but the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the World but the Spirit which is of God that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we Speak not in the words which Man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost Teacheth comparing spiritual things with Spiritual. But the Natural Man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God for they are foolishness unto him neither can he know them because they are Spiritually discerned. But he that is Spiritual judgeth all things yet he himself is judged of no Man. For who hath known the Mind of The Lord that he may instruct Him? but we have The Mind of Christ.

1John 2:26-28 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. But the Anointing which ye have received of Him abideth in you and ye need not that any Man teach you but as the same anointing Teacheth you of all things and is Truth and is no lie and even as it hath Taught you ye shall abide in Him.

Matthew 10:26-28 Fear them not therefore for there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed and hid that shall not be known. What I tell you in darkness that speak ye in Light and what ye hear in the ear that preach ye upon the housetops (KJV) perhaps our Computers.

  5. Array says:

A direct message from God can really arrest your decision to handle a situation in your own way. I can understand that Joseph felt betrayed by Mary when he found out she was pregnant. This woman that he loved, and that he planned to live the rest of his life with had been with another man. Broken, disheartened, and with no choice but to cast her aside according to the law, he moved in that direction. To me this was the beginning of the introduction of life instead of death. The introduction of the kingdom of heaven into a world of sin equals death and permanent separation. Punishment. Instead compassion, mercy and love. A new perspective brought about through the Mind of God. Nothing will ever be the same. Instead of death life and acceptance. Can we apply this same concept to one another? When we see someone fall short, can we turn to them, and with compassion reach out to them with the Love of the Father and walk with them right where they are? This is something we cannot do without the help of the Lord. It is like forgiveness. There are times that we have to ask the Lord to help us to forgive our brother or sister because we do not possess the strength to do it on our own. I can personally tell you–if you ask–He will help you. Your sincerity in asking will move His heart and get you through.

Thanks for the reminder, Pam. I so agree with you. I’ve gone through many trials in my long years, but God remains constant and has always been by my side. His answers aren’t always immediate to prayers, but I know that he hears them and acts on them with my good in mind and according to his will. Thanks for following my blog.
