IS IT TIME FOR ANOTHER REFORMATION?

Throughout history the world has managed to corrupt everything that comes from God’s Word, the Bible.  This distortion continues today when we hear how many churches have eliminated using the Law of God, because most folks don’t like being told they’re wrong.  Some church bodies have become entertainment centers to make you feel good about yourself.  Still others no longer believe that the Bible is completely true – they pick and choose what connects with them.  Some have become social gathering places only.

During the Renaissance, the leaders of countries and churches were doing much the same thing.  The Church of England was partially formed to fit the lifestyle of a king who wanted to divorce his wife.  The power of the church had tremendous influence.  So much so that they could bring in revenue simply by selling forgiveness of sins through indulgences.  Out of that time came the Protestant Reformation.

Are we there today?  Do our churches still preach the Word of God?  Do we have a right to stand up for the truth or do we simply accept a watered down version of Law and Gospel?

Many are fed up with the corruption in our government.  Maybe we should put as much energy into testing our spiritual guides too.  If the truth is not being taught with Biblical purity, call them on it or find a church that does.

Dear, Jesus, you are the head of the church.  Your Bible is how you communicate with us and I know your words are true.  Keep our churches pure.  Don’t allow the devil and the world to corrupt them.  You alone are the Way, the Truth and the Life.  Keep us steadfast in that truth.  Amen!

About atimetoshare.me

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on Amazon.com.

  1. It may be just me, but I don’t attend a church that preaches a water-down Gospel. I shake the dust off my shoes. That’s not to say that there are plenty of “churches” out there that need a revival.

My church preaches God’s Word as inspired and completely true. Many churches don’t talk about sin and do t include the law. Why do we need a Savior if those things don’t exist. I thank God for giving us the victory over sin and death. Without him we’d face eternity in hell.

I loved your stuff on the Reformation, Kathy. Obviously the Protestant Reformation was much needed, and a great thing, I don’t mention this much, because folks don’t really follow it, but in our work we actually don’t consider ourselves to be Protestant at all. We believe Jesus promised the perpetuity of his churches when He said the gates of Hell would never prevail against it. So, we believe a Remnant of true New Testament churches have always been around since Jesus formed His church way back when. The tracing of this remnant is a fascinating historical read, and you can actually see that true churches never did disappear at all, they were just pushed to the fringes, persecuted and basically eradicated by Rome for 11 centuries.

Praise God for that. We have Him alone to thank for His grace and continual care. Thanks, Wally❤️
