FOUR HOURS OF SILENCE & AWE

SolarEclipse-1200x800

I knew my state was not in the path of the solar eclipse which occurred across the United States yesterday, yet we did experience a couple minutes of semi-darkness and silence.  At the same time, I had my television tuned to the coverage of this amazing event and was awed by the fact that for four hours, the controversial news that usually peppers our media, was nowhere to be seen.  Instead I was witness to people across this land looking up at the sky in wonder.

The entire four hours and five minutes it took for the event to go from start to finish, was pure God time.  Such a short span, when you think about the majesty of our Creator.  Yet He created both the sun and the moon in just a day – along with the stars that fill the universe.  His power is instant as well as miraculous.  Wouldn’t it have been magnificent to be a witness to that powerful creation?

However, we are witness to it every day as we watch things go on as they did from the beginning of time.  We see the sun rise and set.  We know night will approach at a certain time every day.  We can count on the patterns that God has laid out for us – the miracle of life, the intricacies of the human body, the design of the perfect architect, horticulturist, biologist.  The One who not only created all of it, but knows how it works, because He made it.

It makes me wonder how people can say all this happened by chance.  Our eyes should be pointed heavenward in awe of the amazing and only God, who provides for all of man’s needs – The One who holds the world in the palm of His hand.

Praise him, sun and moon,
    praise him, all you shining stars!
 Praise him, you highest heavens,
    and you waters above the heavens!

 Let them praise the name of the Lord!
    For he commanded and they were created.
And he established them forever and ever;
    he gave a decree, and it shall not pass away.

Psalm 148: 3-6

About atimetoshare.me

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on Amazon.com.

    “Pure God time” I love this expression. 🙂 Yes, it is majestic to see His mighty works. Mostly we take it for granted but when you pause to attend to it’s beauty, you can but stand in awe of Him!
