When reality TV grabbed hold of society a number of years ago, I was hopeful that it was a passing fancy and would soon disappear.  Unfortunately, life has become one big reality show.  Instead of the glaring headlines of the National Enquirer, we’re now faced with a plethora of garbage on the nightly news.

For some reason, we seem to thrive on the misfortune of others – the foolishness of others – the mistakes of others.  Why is that?  Does it really make us feel better or more important?

The common thread in these shows is how to win no matter how others feel. In fact, the more that others can be humiliated, the better. It doesn’t surprise me that bullying is common in schools and now with the internet, the bullying goes viral, leading to crushed children with no hope for life.

Whatever happened to the Golden Rule? This rule tells us to treat others as we would want to be treated. Now it’s more like, treat others any way that will make you feel superior to them. It really doesn’t take any brains to be mean to someone, but it does take some work and prayer to be compassionate, loving, helpful, kind and thoughtful. If we put our energy into that way of thinking, wouldn’t this world be much better?

Our country is slowly being swayed to the devil’s way of thinking.  We have become obsessed with hatred.  Social media has become a playground for putting people down – for digging up dirt on anyone in public service – for placing blame on everyone but the perpetrator.  Even our media has become infected.  At the same time, our churches are losing members.  There’s a shortage of those who would serve as pastors in those churches. Morality is outdated.  Marriage is no longer necessary.  Sin runs rampant.

As a believer in the Word of God as truth, I know that the story doesn’t end this way.  God has already won the victory for us.  This is the true reality.  God so loved the world, that whosoever believes in Him, will not perish, but have everlasting life.

Lord, give me the ability to look at others with love as you do. My sins bring me to my knees every day, but your love endures forever. Show me how to pay it forward to those who need your love today. Amen!

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on
