The art I’m showing today was an integral part of the play, “Alice In Wonderland” which my children’s theater performed a couple years ago. The set was created by my talented husband and brought to life by a group of aspiring young actors.

The story of Alice and her trip through the rabbit hole reminds me of what seems to be the norm in the world today – mass confusion, utter disorientation and upside down thinking which seems out of control.  Alice was in a time of turmoil as she entered her teens.  All the fun of childhood, seemed to pale in comparison to the responsibility connected with growing up.    Maybe our world needs to grow up and doesn’t want to.

A wrinkled little body, writhing and screaming,

As it inhales its first breath,

Skin begins to fill with life,

And becomes smooth to the touch,

That same helpless infant begins to explore,

To search,

To learn.

Each day brings challenges,

The freshness of life, like the budding trees in spring,

Invigorated, refreshed, alive,

Years pass and  the no longer helpless body,

Is now strong and fit

It faces danger, fears, hopes and dreams with gusto

With no hesitation and often little thought,

The strength and ability to accomplish,

Has been crafted into this creation,

Final days,

The smoothness of the skin becomes,

Transparent and spotted.

Fingers and limbs become,

Crippled and deformed,

Each bump produces a bruise,

Inhalation becomes difficult,

No longer pliable or elastic,

Limp skin clings to less mass and more bone,

The mind, once filled with enough information,

To fill the largest computer,

Now forgetful, lost, fading,

Decisions once easy to make,

Now made by others,

The last page is turned,

We start out wrinkled and screaming,

We leave this world in the same way,

It’s what happens in between that matters,

For those who hope in the Lord,

The glory days never end.

About atimetoshare.me

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on Amazon.com.
