FRIENDSHIP OUTREACH

Someone once told me that if you have something precious, and you don’t share it with others, you’re being selfish. That really makes sense, especially if you have a specific talent like singing, or writing or painting. If you keep it all to yourself, you are denying others the pleasure of having it in their lives too.

We, as Christians, have the greatest treasure in Jesus, Christ and because of the joy that message brings, we must not keep it to ourselves. In fact we are commissioned to get the Word out. This is a gift that must be shared not just with other Christians, but with those who are looking for answers in their lives. Everyone has something in their life that is causing pain or conflict.  Start listening to them, rather than talking about yourself.  It doesn’t take long to see where their needs lie.

In doing this, we aren’t be judgmental or Bible thumpers.  We’re merely trying to give them an antidote for their affliction.  Letting them know that Jesus is available for them shouldn’t be pushed on others.  It’s a gift from God Himself and more precious than any monetary gain.

Talk to your friends, your co-workers and even people you meet for the first time. You don’t have to bombard them with the story, but as your friendship grows, they will see that you have something special to share with them. Your joy will be contagious and the word will spread like wild fire.

Use me, Lord to show others the joy I have in my heart because of you. Amen!

About atimetoshare.me

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on Amazon.com.

  4. Great post! We need to live is such a way and with joy so that others want to know what is different about us.
You are so right…..we must not be selfish in our faith.

I guess there are two sides to this. As you so rightly point out, we have something precious that we should be sharing. It’s the loving thing to do.

Looking at it from a different angle, knowing the consequences of not following Christ, to not share the gospel and by doing so give a warning is simply hateful.

Whichever way you look at it, we must share this precious message of hope in Christ.

Thanks, brother, this is what we’ve been commanded to do by Jesus. I try to bring His name into every conversation when I talk to someone I don’t know. It has to be subtle though or you easily can turn them off. Once friendship is established its easier to get the message out and let the Spirit do the rest.
