WE ARE ALL RESPONSIBLE

This is a rewrite of a post from 4-20-15

“Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future.” John F. Kennedy

Society has taken a dark step backwards. I’m not sure if it’s because we’ve forgotten Jesus’ admonishment to love one another as we love ourselves – if we’ve totally forgotten the Ten Commandments – or if we’ve turned to ourselves for our own salvation. Somewhere in the last half century, there’s been a lack of taking responsibility for one’s actions, which has led to a nation of “all about me” thinkers.

The Old Testament laws of Deuteronomy state – if a son is stubborn and rebellious towards his parents they had the right to take him to the elders and have him STONED, and I’m not talking about drugs here.  That’s what I call tough love.

Praise God, He has fulfilled the Law through His Son, but we still should be responsible citizens, family members and employees.  Somewhere along the line we’ve forgotten our responsibility, as part of Christ’s body, to shake off our old ways and live as He did when He walked the earth.  Everything we learned through His passion was designed to make us God’s own children again.

We’re all accountable for what we do in this life.  Our sins have been forgiven, but now more than ever, we’re obligated to set an example of how our lives change when we become disciples of Christ.  He alone has changed them.  By doing otherwise, we are crucifying Him over and over again.

Teaching that lesson to our children is a must.  Good parenting comes from God Himself.  When God asked Adam why he ate the forbidden fruit, He didn’t need to be told – He knew the answer, but He was giving His children an opportunity to own up to their mistakes.  We owe it to our kids to teach them to take responsibility for their actions

Dear Lord, our world is filled with sinful behavior.  Help us trust in your forgiveness and  honor you for the price you paid for our redemption.  Amen!

About atimetoshare.me

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on Amazon.com.
