HAPPY HEDGEHOG DAY

“If somebody thinks they’re a hedgehog, presumably you just give ’em a mirror and a few pictures of hedgehogs and tell them to sort it out for themselves.” Douglas Adams

This little hedgehog deserves as many accolades on this Groundhog Day as any sleepy eyed little groundhog.  Did you know that there is actually a day set aside for these spiny little critters.  They’re so cute, they really do deserve some attention.

Take a look at that face.  It has “cuddle me” written all over it and it’s adorable when he curls into a little ball.

Apparently the groundhog took Hedgey’s place.  The hedgehog had top billing with the Romans and preceded what we celebrate every February 2.  Maybe it had something to do with those seemingly harmless little spines on his back.  Hedgehogs are hard to catch and equally hard to hang on to, because of the quantity of slime they release when they feel threatened. It stands to reason they’d choose a lazy, pudgy, harmless little groundhog.

Of course the hedgehog does not abound in America except in zoos.  They’re native to New Zealand, Africa and parts of Europe and Asia.  Their main preoccupation is staying alive and defending themselves.

So let’s hear it for the hedgehog!  The groundhog doesn’t know what he’s talking about anyway.

Aren’t you glad you tune into my posts.  You and I learn something new every day.

About atimetoshare.me

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on Amazon.com.

  1. I don’t feel bad for the hedgehog, because though groundhogs have their own day, hedgehogs are significantly cuter. So there’s always that.

  2. I’ve always wanted a little hedgehog as they are so adorable—the groundhog…well, not what I think of when I think of “adorable”
Thank you for this tiny creature’s shout out 🙂
