WACKY HOLIDAYS

Today is the official start of autumn.  It also happens to be Elephant Appreciation Day, Hobbit Day and Business Women’s Day.  If that’s not enough for you, you might prefer to celebrate White Chocolate Day, Ice Cream Cone Day, Dear Diary Day or World Car Free Day.  I’m not quite sure where these bizarre holidays come from, but they can be great fodder for blogging, when nothing else comes to mind.

I love autumn so this particular signals the beginning of refreshment for me.  Those hot, sweaty days of summer are gone and we can pull out the flannel shirts and jackets once more. Of course, most of mine are already packed for moving and sitting under stacks of other boxes within our garage.  Come mid October, I may be able to access them again.  While waiting, I’ll pray that the first winter snow storm holds off until at least October 16th.  I have no idea where my mittens are.

In the meantime, I can go hug an elephant, (if I can locate one on the streets of Minneapolis) buy an ice cream cone, leave the car at home and write in my diary about all the business women who have chowed down on white chocolate and transformed into hobbits.

Instead I will turn my thoughts to packing more boxes and getting organized before the final moving day – whenever that may be.  Did I mention that the entire home selling and buying routine is a pain in the neck?  I’m sure my readers are as tired of hearing about it as I am.  I’ll be very glad when it’s over.  Put that in your diary, Kathy Boecher.

About atimetoshare.me

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on Amazon.com.

moving is very stressful but we were blessed in that when we moved from mainland BC to Vancouver Island my husband’s friend brought all our belongings over in a big toy hauler so it saved us the cost of movers. I wonder if there is a calendar with all the crazy days listed, you are right, it would be good fodder for blogging.. but I won’t tell my husband that is “Ice Cream Cone Day.”

Think I’ll be adding the ice cream cone to my autumn lists of favorite things. It is still in the 60’s so it is doable . . . rake leave, lick cone, rake leave, lick cone . . . can’t wait to get started! I think Chocolate would blend nicely with all the leaves 🙂

You never need to make excuses for an ice cream cone. In fact I had one yesterday and I don’t feel a bit guilty.
