Life is difficult and getting worse every day. You tune in to the morning news and it’s clogged with information about sit ins, protests, murders, looting, hatred. Once in a blue moon there will be one of those feel good stories, but they’re few and far between.
As we travel this journey, we sometimes gather a little wisdom from time and experience, but it often seems that there is nothing good, no one cares, the world is full of selfishness and egocentrics and there’s no hope. Many just give up and say things like, “why bother,” or “life sucks.” Many claim that the world will end soon and God will serve His vengeance on this world of evil. Some believe that God is dead and the only life is the one we’re living.
History hasn’t really changed much from the beginning until now. The ugliness of sin has inhabited our planet and will remain until our death. Death inevitably happens to everyone of us. We can’t escape it, but for those who believe that God sent His Son to pay the price for our iniquities through His death and resurrection, this life is just our temporary home.
We must be patient for God’s providence. He will return to judge the world. Believers will go to heaven and nonbelievers will suffer eternity in hell. Those are facts from God Himself, written in His inspired Word, the Bible. It’s clearly indicated that good will triumph over evil.
Those who trust in those words have an eternal life insurance policy, written by the hand of God. Life isn’t pretty. Sin is ugly and seems to be getting uglier every day, but there’s always hope for those who wait on the Lord.
In all this, be patient. When you’re sick, God has a purpose for that. When crime reaches all time highs, God is still in control of the outcome. When we can’t trust our governing officials or tempers flare towards those working to protect us, God is still right in the middle of it – making sure that some good will come of it. We simply need to pray, trust and believe. He will win in the end!
