Many years ago, Carol King wrote a tribute to friendship in her song “You’ve Got a Friend.” When things are going bad and it seems like nothing is ever going to get better, it is good to know that there is someone who cares about us. Carol was writing about earthly friends, but sometimes we might even find disappointment in them. There is only one friend we can truly count on in times of trouble; in times of disaster; in times of pain and fear; in times of a hurting heart; all the time. His name is Jesus and all we have to do is call out His name.

When you’re down and troubled
And you need a helping hand
And nothing, whoa nothing is going right.
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest nights.

You just call out my name,
And you know where ever I am
I’ll come running, oh yeah baby
To see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall,
All you have to do is call
And I’ll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You’ve got a friend.

Our forever friend is Jesus, but the friends we’re given by God, are a gift beyond measure. They  can be your lifeline when problems assail you – your support when you feel hopeless or lost – and when you share the same faith, they can lift you up when fear sets in and tough decisions need to be made.  Praise God for placing these angels in your life and lean on them when you need them.

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on

Hi Kathy, thanks for your thoughts. Pray for it, if you would please. The messages have been great so far but I am concerned about the faithfulness to this endeavor by many of our members. It seems as if dedicating a week to praise and worship is hard for some. Last night our speaker preached on the letter Jesus wrote to the church at Ephesus in the Book of Revelation and how they had lost their first love…I wonder a bit if we aren’t like them. Working hard, staunch on doctrine, always on the look out for false teaching…but lacking. Have a great day!

I know what you mean. We have similar situations in our church as well. Many of the older members seem to think that only those that believe in accordance with the doctrine that our church preaches will be saved. I know that Jesus died for the entire world – even the worst of the worst. When we stand only on doctrine, we become like the pharasees – standing in judgment when we have no right to do so. I will pray for the revival and regeneration of many.
