I’ve chosen the above graphic  for todays devotion, because tonight my acting students will present their rendition of “Tom Sawyer & Huck Finn,” and a Mark Twain quote seems appropriate. It speak volumes about what can be accomplished with the efforts of many.

Each time I open a show, I’m reminded of the importance of team work.  It’s like any other team effort.  If there is one who excels and doesn’t allow the others do what they are qualified for, there is soon discontent.  If one tries to outshine the other, the circle of trust has been broken.  We need each other.  When we’re part of a team our opinion and our talent is important to the final result.

Lucy, from Charles Schultz cartoon, said it beautifully when she demonstrated the power of many to Linus.  She held out her hand and said, “These five fingers – individually they are nothing – but when I curl them into a little ball, they become a force impossible to reckon with.” (paraphrase.) Lucy is always a little extreme in her definition of things, but it does make a good point.  When we try to accomplish big things, the job is much easier when everyone pitches in.

The beauty of an ensemble is that an even more glorious piece of music can be achieved with many instruments.  Any kind of labor can be accomplished faster with more hands.  One voice can be effective, but a whole choir can blow the roof off of a church.

When God created man He saw that it was good, but He soon found that it wasn’t good for man to be alone. There is safety in numbers. There is strength in numbers. There us unity in numbers. There’s so much more to share when you aren’t alone.

When one is really good at something, they can do a lot with their talent.  When you have a team of people who all have something to contribute your chances of success are multiplied.  When God is at the head of that group the success is assured.

Galatians 6:2 “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
And so I say to my performers tonight, individually you are great – together you are amazing – with God beside you, you are unstoppable.

About atimetoshare.me

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on Amazon.com.
